Interior Design As a Profession

Interior design is an art and science of improving the interior of an establishment to make it aesthetically pleasing to its users, to a level of health and safety acceptable to the inhabitants of the place. An interior designer is a person who plans, studies, coordinates, and oversees such renovation projects. It involves the application of knowledge about architecture, building interior, furniture, cosmetics, and the best way of incorporating technological advances into the design. This profession requires immense effort, creativity, patience, and talent to come up with designs that are not only pleasing to the eyes but also useful to the occupants of the establishment. Interior designers do their work in conjunction with architects, interior specialists, and other professionals.

One of the important tasks of interior designers is to plan the furniture arrangement in the interior spaces. They plan and create the set up of furniture, determining how each piece of furniture will be placed in the rooms, determining how the furniture will be connected, how they will function, and what materials the furniture should be made of. Another important task of interior designers is the selection and maintenance of furniture.

It is very common for interior designers to work together with decorators, who are involved in the assessment, creation, and implementation of decorating ideas. Decorators bring about the idea and bring it to life through the creative use of various kinds of furniture styles, materials, colors, textures, and themes in the interior design project. They are basically responsible for bringing the vision and concept of the interior designers to life by choosing the appropriate accessories and furnishing items. Together, the decorator and the designer create the perfect plan for decorating the room.
